Positive People Attract! Negative People Repel!
“Take responsibility of your own happiness, never put it in other people’s hands.” – Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
Your life will be happier if you increase your positive communication and decrease your negative communication.
Your communication with others can positively or negatively affect them. Below are five positive ways and five negative ways to communicate.
Positive Ways Your Communication Affects Others
Encourage others to reach for their goals
Help others accomplish something they couldn’t accomplish alone
Tell others about resources that could help them
Connect a person with another person you know will help them
After giving advice, follow up with person
Negative Ways Your Communication Affects Others
Discourage others from reaching their goals
Telling a person he/she is not smart enough to accomplish his/her goals
Not telling a person about a key resource that could help him/her reach his/her goals (communication by omission)
Intentionally advising another person down a path you know will not work
Because you are jealous of the other person, you try to sabotage his/her idea by saying his/her idea does not have a chance of succeeding
Be Positive in a Sometimes Negative World
Animals don’t have the intellect to choose a different course of action in their lives. However, you do. You can’t control the situations life throws at you, but you can always choose how you react to them.
Sometimes I hear people blaming someone else for causing him/her to do something. It is a fact that no one can make you do anything unless you agree to do it. Even though your communication has an effect on others, those others always have a choice whether to accept or reject what you say.
We have enough negativity in the world. Don’t add to it!
We are all seeking happiness in this world. I have always found the people that are the happiest are the ones that are positive with themselves and with others.
So this coming week, I want you to make a special effort to be positive with yourself and others and see what happens.
As the old saying goes, “It doesn’t matter how far you fall. It only matters how high you bounce!”

Make a point this week to say something positive to everyone you meet; EVERYONE!
